Born in 1975 in Northampton, Piero Serra is a multidisciplinary artist with a background in architecture, whose creative journey has taken him across England, Italy, Israel, and Germany. His years working in architecture and interior design have shaped a meticulous attention to space, structure, and form—qualities that subtly inform both his drawing and photographic practice. Rooted in a sensitivity to material and place, Serra’s work explores themes of identity, transformation, and the emotional resonance of urban environments, often blurring the boundaries between constructed space and personal narrative.

His series, The Tranquility of Doom, showcases a collection of meticulously hand-drawn masks that blend surrealism with symbolism, inviting viewers to explore themes of identity, transformation, and the subconscious. Each piece is rendered with delicate linework, reflecting a deep engagement with the nuances of form and expression.

In contrast, Serra’s photographic series Skips of Berlin explores the sensation of disorientation within a rapidly shifting cityscape, while simultaneously uncovering moments of groundedness and ritual in the presence of familiar, functional forms. The objects he photographs—often fragments of urban infrastructure—become quiet monuments in the chaos, offering visual anchors that speak to resilience, memory, and a kind of meditative stillness amidst flux. Across both mediums, Serra’s work reflects a deep sensitivity to material, space, and the quiet symbols that shape our lived experience.
